I agree. The uncut version does a lot better, because of the assisting contrast between the green street lights and the red moon. It feels more synthetic.

I agree with the others that the uncut version is better, and I think I know how to make it even better: cut it in the exact opposite way as you have done for the main version. Cut the sky, make the horizon lie on the upper golden ratio.

The moon is problematic, while the moon itself is of course completely over-exposed and thus not really adding to the image, the lens flare it produces is rather attractive. If cut like mentioned, this could be problematic. I would try to take it out completely.

The original uncut version is a 6/8 but this crop here I hand a 5/8
